Medical Insurance
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
Group medical insurance is offered through Great-West Insurance Company. EES pays the majority of the premium for all regular, full-time employees and their eligible dependents. EES understands that everyone's medical needs are different and offers a choice between two-tiers of Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans allowing employees to better manage their costs. The PPO offers a choice of in-network or out-of-network providers and participants may visit any doctor or hospital that they prefer without the need for a primary care physician or referral. However, costs are less when participants select a provider that is in network.
Prescription Drug
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
Participants in the group medical plan are eligible for the prescription drug program administered through Great-West. A mail order program is available that provides substantial savings to employees.
Dental Insurance
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
Group dental insurance is offered through MetLife Insurance Company. EES pays the majority of the premium for all regular, full-time employees and their eligible dependents.
Vision Savings Plan
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
Vision insurance is offered through the Vision Service Plan (VSP). Doctors within the plan provide a variety of discounted benefits including eye exams, frames, lenses and products.
Flexible Spending Plan
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
A flexible spending account allows the employee to direct a part of his/her pay, on a pretax basis, into a special account that can be used throughout the year to pay for certain out-of-pocket health and/or dependent care expenses. Employees may contribute up to $2,500 annually to a Health Care Flexible Spending Account and up to $5,000 annually to a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.
Employee Assistance Plan

The Employee Assistance Program provides short-term counseling for employees and their eligible family members to assist with personal, job, or family issues. Short Term Disability Plan
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
EES pays 100% of the premium for short-term disability insurance for all regular, full-time employees. The benefit pays 70% of the employee's weekly salary, to a maximum of $2,000 per week. Approved benefits begin on the 8th calendar day of absence for both sickness and non-work related accidents, and maternity leave. Benefits may continue for up to 12 weeks.
Long Term Disability Plan
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
EES pays 100% of the premium for long-term disability insurance for all regular, full-time employees. The benefit pays 60% of the employee's monthly salary, to a maximum of $10,000 per month until age 65. Benefits under this coverage begin after 90 days of disability or on the date short-term disability payments end.
Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of Hire
EES pays 100% of the premium for one times salary (minimum of $50,000 and a maximum of $100,000) of life insurance and of accidental death and dismemberment for regular, full-time employees.
Supplemental, Spousal, and Dependent Life Insurance
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of hire
This voluntary life insurance program allows employees to purchase additional life insurance for themselves, spouses, and dependent children. There is no medical evidence of insurability required if employees sign-up within 30 days of hire and do not exceed the basic coverage limit of $200,000. The insurance is portable and employees may continue it at the same rates should employment with EES end. Employees may elect additional term life insurance up to five times their annual salary, but not to exceed $500,000, and up to $250,000 for their spouse and $10,000 for each dependent child. In addition, employees may elect additional Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance up to five times their annual salary, not to exceed $500,000, and up to $250,000 for their spouse and $10,000 for each dependent child.
401(k) Plan
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
EES offers a safe harbor plan designed to help employees save for retirement. For the year 2007, the Plan allows the employee to reduce taxable base compensation by up to 25% to a maximum of $15,500 through payroll deductions on a pre-tax basis. EES matches the first 3% of an employee's contribution at 100% and 50% up to a maximum of 5%. Vesting in the program is immediate with several investment options offered by Wachovia Management Group.
Paid Universal Leave
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of hire
Regular, full-time employees accrue universal leave each calendar year. Paid universal leave is accrued at the rate of 6.00 hours per pay period (18 days) for 1 to 5 years of service. After 5 years, paid leave is accrued at the rate of 7.00 hours per pay period (21 days per year). After 10 plus years, paid leave is accrued at a rate of 8.00 hours per pay period (24 days per year). Employees may roll over balances each calendar year.
Holidays
Enrollment Eligibility: Date of hire
EES observes ten (10) paid federal holidays each year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Education/Training Assistance
Enrollment Eligibility: After 6 months of employment
EES encourages all employees to continue to grow through learning and educational development. EES will reimburse the cost of tuition, registration, books, or lab fees, up to $3,000 within any rolling 12 month period. An employee must receive a grade of "A" or "Pass" to receive 100% reimbursement, a grade of "B" earns 90% reimbursement and 80% reimbursement for a "C". Courses must be job related and from an accredited learning institution.
Parking/Public Transportation Allowance
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
EES encourages employees to utilize public transportation by participating in the Public Transportation Benefit Program. The company assists employees who elect public transportation by contributing to the cost up to $110 per month. For those who utilize public parking, EES will subsidize these benefits up to the IRS imposed limit of $215 for non taxable parking benefit.
Professional Organizations
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
EES reimburses employees for job-related professional affiliations and magazine subscriptions up to $125 annually.
Employee Referral Bonus
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
Referral/recruitment bonuses are paid to full-time employees who refer an individual to EES for any open position. The referred employee must be a full-time employee for six (6) consecutive months before the referral bonus is paid.
Profit Sharing Bonus
Enrollment Eligibility: After 90 days of employment
A profit sharing bonus is awarded to those employees who demonstrate exceptional performance in their daily job responsibilities. Group Managers, Corporate Managers, and Executive Management determine candidates for participation in the bonus plan.
Grandfathering of Benefits
Enrollment Eligibility: Adjusted Seniority Date
EES recognizes previous service to DOE with an adjusted seniority date for employees transitioning from contracts for universal leave accrual, parking, and 401(k) participation.
Benefit Plan Participation: Benefit plan coverage may only be elected within 30 days of hire, during open enrollment or a change of status. Employees have 30 days after their date of hire to enroll in the benefit programs; however, it is recommended that employees enroll as soon as possible to avoid any delays in coverage. Change of status includes marriage, divorce, birth, loss or gain of coverage. The change must be submitted to the Human Resources Department within 30 days of the qualifying event.
