Unix Administrator
Description
Ability to design, install and configure and help maintain
Sun Solaris (versions 9 and 10), IBM AIX (versions 5.3 and 6.1), and Linux (Redhat and Suse) computer
systems.
Install, configure and test OS software and other system software applications.
Leads/guides ongoing efforts for system management,
monitoring, and planning across enterprise; serves as point of escalation and
review for issues or concerns identified.

Identifies
and implements opportunities for improved system utilization through effective
management and consolidation strategies
·
Identifies
implementation-specific methods, controls and quality assurance criteria that
must be met when systems are migrated into the production environment
·
Participate
in design, development and coordination meetings with other group members
·
Responsibilities
·
BS/BA,
plus 5 years related experience or 10 years equivalent experience.
·
Must
have five years of experience in at least two of the following Unix operating systems - Sun Solaris, IBM AIX or Linux
(certifications desired).
·
Comfortable
using scripting languages including Perl, Shell.
·
Technical
working knowledge of Unix hardware including server
(CPU and RAM) configurations, server partitioning, internal and external (SAN)
storage, and network connectivity.
·
Strong
fundamental system administration and configuration management skills.
·
Ability
to work in a mixed Unix and Windows application
development environment.
·
Ability
to manage system security and configure and manage TCP/Networking
configurations on servers
·
Strong
communications (verbal and written), analytical and troubleshooting skills are
required.
·
Must
possess US Citizenship and be able to qualify for a DOE “L” clearance.
Experience/Education
·
Two
or more years experience as an Oracle DBA in a Unix environment
·
Oracle
9i and 10G Application Server (OC4J and Oracle HTTP Server), Oracle 9iAS and
10G infrastructure installation and configuration
·
Tivoli
Storage Manager, Apache and HTML skills
·
Working knowledge of NAS or SAN devices.
Experience with Solaris Containers/Zones, Solaris LDOM, AIX LPARS, and VMware.
