September 17, 2007 Community Outreach sponsor’s Pepco’s 2nd Annual Golf & Tennis Classic at The Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, Maryland.
Many families struggle with high energy bills during the winter months, and as government resources become stretched, those less fortunate are turning to charities to help cope with high energy prices. With the help from proceeds raised during Pepco’s Golf and Tennis Classic, many deserving families are able to keep the heat running and the lights on in a time of need. Proceeds from the fundraiser are distributed to needy families through three local charities:
· Catholic Charities of Montgomery County
· Greater Washington Urban League, District of Columbia
· United Communities Against Poverty, Prince George’s County
The first golf outing was held in 2006 and netted more than $140,000. The grant allowed for emergency financial assistance to those in need throughout the Metropolitan Area. This year, Pepco will host their 2nd Annual Golf & Tennis Classic. With the help of companies like Energy Enterprise Solutions, LLC who is supporting the event by donating $20,000, hopes are high that this year’s event even will be even more successful than the first.
